Dennis "Denny" McGill

Denny McGill, President of the La Colina Home Owners' Association, passed away August 13 while vacationing in Yellowstone Park. The cause was heart failure. He was 65.

Dennis was born and raised near Philadelphia, and attended LaSalle High School and College. Until his retirement in 1998, he was employed as a securities trader in Chicago.

A founding member of the La Colina community, Dennis served with characteristic energy and enthusiasm on the La Colina HOA board for several years, taking great delight in improvements to the neighborhood, both large and small.

His latest effort was the installation of the handsome and larger-than-life faux cactus near the front green, which will serve as a communications device for NewPath networks, and a source of revenue for the community.

In his personal life Denny had a passion for seeing the mountains. In August, he fulfilled a longstanding wish to see Yellowstone when he and his wife Marian joined a tour led by the National Geographic Society. Near the end of the trip, as he turned in for the night after a full day of touring, his last words were “That was a pretty good day, today.” Dennis passed away a few hours later.
